Haywood Village pupils step back in time at the SS Great Britain

It was full steam ahead as pupils from Haywood Village Academy visited the iconic SS Great Britain in Bristol for an unforgettable journey into the past.
As part of their history topic, Year 2 children had an amazing time exploring this remarkable piece of British history and discovering what life was like during the Victorian era.
The children explored life aboard the ship, discovered what it was like to travel in Victorian times and brought their classroom learning to life through hands-on experiences and fascinating historical artefacts.
From exploring the decks to learning about the people who lived and worked on board, the young historians showed fantastic curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day. The visit provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to deepen their understanding of the past and make meaningful connections with their classroom learning.
A spokesperson for Haywood Village Academy said: “It was wonderful to see our Year 2 pupils so engaged and excited as they explored the SS Great Britain.
“The children asked thoughtful questions, shared their knowledge and showed real curiosity about what life was like in Victorian times.
“Experiences like this bring history to life and create lasting memories while inspiring a love of learning. We are incredibly proud of how brilliantly they represented our academy.”
