World Book Week 2023

Mon 27th Feb - Fri 3rd Mar 2023

Event Details

We will be running a number of events celebrating World Book Week throughout the week.

Everyday throughout World Book Week we will release a masked reader video to our social media pages. You can guess who you think the masked reader is… We will reveal the masked readers on Friday afternoon.

Monday 27.2.23:
We will be running a book swap opportunity. We invite each child to bring in a high-quality book or books from home that they no longer need. Then after school on the playground we will run a book swap so that every child who brought a book in, in the morning, can pick a new one to take home for free.

Tuesday 28.2.23:
All of the teachers will swap around at the end of the day so that each class has a surprise reader to read the end of the day story.

Wednesday 1.3.23:
Children from Pre-school to Year 6 will be visited by ‘Peas in a Pod’ storyteller. Each class will participate in a fun storytelling workshop. The cost of this is 50p per child. Please make this payment via Scopay.

Thursday 2.3.23:
Children are invited to dress up as a book character. As last year was so successful, we are encouraging families to re-use as much as possible and we challenge you to not buy anything new to create your home-made outfits, we will also be promoting this approach with children. As an Eco-school we are promoting the 5 R’s which are Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose and Recycle.

Friday 3.3.23:
We will be running a ‘bake a book character’ competition for children across the school. There will be a winner in EYFS, KS1 and KS2, voted for by the librarians’ pupil group. Children are invited to be imaginative and bake a character from a book and bring it into school on Friday ready to enter the competition. We will then be selling the cakes after school to raise money for the PTA.

On Friday families are invited into school from 2:30pm to come into classrooms to listen to the live radio show. During this time, we will also announce the winners of the ‘bake a book character’ competition and reveal the masked readers.
